It Is a necessary context:

Our primate cousins have been evolving for several million years.

Modern humans had scarcely two hundred thousand (200,000) years for learning how to use safely the enhanced capacities and powers.

By the 20th century we acquired enough knowledge of nature to create unprecedented prosperity (survival with ease) as well as weaponry (means of destruction) capable of destrying global civilisation.

Our survival through the 21st century will depend on the degree to which wisdom grows and guides the use of our exponentially increasing knowledge.
